Today is my parents' wedding anniversary.
I did my chores.
I went to school until my senior year, and I graduated
after going to summer school at Birmingham High.
Senior year...a comedy of errors!!
Life in high school had no real responsibility.
I'm lucky to have had popularity thru sports.
You didn't need a job.
You didn't have any bills.
WE didn't have cell phones either.
My senior year I worked as busboy in a seafood restaurant,
then my friend and I delivered furniture on the weekends.
I liked to do physical stuff...run, jump, play ball & martial arts-
As I got older...I had more of a chip on my shoulder.
I don't know why. Maybe I started to think for myself...
and didn't like other people telling me what to do.
or HOW to do it.
If you got a chip...you gotta back those words.
I took my fair share of beat downs.
But if you don't know martial arts...I can surprise you with a foot to the face.
At parties...friends would usually stop anything that got out of hand.
No book or class could've prepared me for what happened.
I stood at the dawn of hope with my life about to begin...
Of course I had dreams of an athletic career.
The only future plans were made several months earlier when a couple friends and me
decided to join our other friend in the US Air Force.
