ok ive been thinking about some stuff lately. dont worry this isnt going to be a "deep" entry or anything.

first: i watched way of the gun last night, ive seen it a bazillion times but anyways, theres a scene in which one of the main characters say "why is it if i guy grabs a girls ass and she punches his lights out shes 'fighting for her rights'. but if i guy grabs my ass and i punch his lights out im labeled a homophobe?"

second: first of all i am not racist, and i know im not the first person to wonder about this but i was watching TV yesterday and i came across BET. now wtf. what would happen if there was a White Entertainment Television? its fucked that blacks can be racist like that but white people cant. again im not raicist, im just noticing the ironic in our wonderful (/me rolls eyes) USA.

last but not least; i found out that my favorite author is gay. not that it matters since everyone thinks i am gay anyways. its just weird cause he has hidden it for 11 years and now he decides to reveal it. it makes me wonder what else he is hiding. you have to understand that this author is like my idol and i look up to him more then anyone else on the planet.

well any thoughts?

poor Mr. Eel... you're not gay? I would have thought from your bands... tongue You TFF lovin' motherf*%ker.

Um, anyone who doesn't let you punch someone's lights out for grabbing your ass I count as overly sensitive to violent but justified reaction.

Second, we're in this very website as a cultural subgroup yet many of us might look askance at a Christian majority or fraternity/sorority group. I give anyone who's the "minority" of any culture, esp. when they're still fighting for respect in places (no denying), to gather in their own and still say that a similar majority group in the same is racist/elitist/whatever. From that perspective the majority group already has its own club, TV show, or whatever. It's called "daily life", and the majority is perceived (and often rightly so) to run it. Anything else that actively excludes looks racist/sexist/whatever. Why men's clubs seem sexist and women's clubs don't? Because the women are typically counteracting a male dominated society and using their commonality and collectiveness to get what they probably aren't getting otherwise. It gets more extreme elsewhere, when you're talking major religious or language differences, but I get it. I'll live.

And lastly your author is dealing with that fact when and how he feels he has to, and gay as a concept and gay as a family thing, public thing, and daily living thing are not the same. Deciding that you're going to say it and deal with the repercussions, no turning back, that may come about is a serious big, BRAVE step, no matter when you do it. Better to ask why he felt he needed to hide this, when you personally don't think it's bad - I'm not gonna go all X-Men on you, but...

Anyway not meaning to be harsh or anything, just two topics that I feel very strongly about, and have asked the same questions myself at some point - took a lot of pondering to come to these conclusions, so I'm all about talking about them. Course, they're just conclusions - they're not conclusive tongue
