If you are curious and still feel like reading...
I started SuicideGirls 20 years ago as a place where my friends who were pierced and tattooed and didn't fit into the conventional box of beauty could be appreciated for being their infinitely interesting and uniquely beautiful selves. I wanted to create a place where they could be appreciated for all of themselves, their personalities as well as their image. I could have never have dreamed of what this idea would have spawned.
SuicideGirls, the name, a hat tip to Portland author Chuck Palahunick, describing the girls who hung out in pioneer square in Portland. By choosing to take part in this project the girls were literally committing social suicide, rejecting conventional wisdom at the time by sharing their thoughts and feelings online and embracing their bodies and loving themselves. This was 20 years ago, pre Myspace, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram or Lizzo, Serena Williams, Beyonce, Tess Holiday, or any of the other bad ass women that have pushed boundaries of beauty further than I could have possibly dreamed. I am so thankful for my beautiful friends who were brave enough to share themselves and let me capture the intimacy and confidence and strength that they each possessed and set a template for the amazing women who would follow.

Gratitude and thanks and love are too shallow of words to describe the life changing heart felt totality of every fiber of my being being immersed in appreciation. I am infinitely grateful to each and every person who has touched this place, you have no idea what your love and support means.
To all the women who have shared their bodies and souls and stories of confidence gained or how this place has changed their lives, know your love and support and trust has been a benediction and bolstered me when my own confidence has faltered. Infinite heart emojis to all of you. ❤️
My future blogs will share photos and memories that will in no way encompass everything but will only scratch the surface of 20 years of amazing experiences.
Thanks for the life!
xoxo
