I didn't write a post around thanksgiving, which may have been more appropriate, but the end of the year seems a good a time as any to list the things that I am thankful for. I will start with the theme of this year and may add some things that are just general, or end up in a tangent, we will see where we end up.
Things I am thankful for in 2014
First and foremost the amazing women who have chosen to participate, and share their lives and friendship and intelligence and images within this community I created 13 years ago. - I am humbled every day by the beautiful stories and lives that I get to share in through this site. I have made my best friends, had crazy fun experiences, and gotten to see the world with so many amazing women who are just so fun and accepting and awesome. I feel incredibly lucky that this site has become a beacon for the types of girls who are super fucking cool and amazing and sweet and talented and humble and nice and beautiful inside and out. I know that I don't always take the opportunity to share how grateful I am to each and every one of you, but I am. If you aren't featured on the Facebook or the instagram enough or your blog or pics aren't feature on the front page, it is not that we don't love you and appreciate your unique beauty. SuicideGirls would not be the place that it is without each and every one of you and it changes with every new addition and every addition to the archive. It is a constantly living and breathing and beautiful place that I feel so lucky to be a part of and it begins with the amazing women who choose to participate. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart to you all :)
The homework - One of my favorite things this year has been to read the communities homework responses. Homework was never my favorite growing up so it is ironic that homework is one of my favorite things to look at every day. (Still not the greatest at writing it but maybe that will be on of my 2015 resolutions) Thank you so much everyone (members, models & hopefuls) who have shared and given a glimpse into your life on the topics we have given each week. Our blogs are what set SG apart, the ability to share longer form thoughts stories and be so connected to one another. I am so thankful to everyone who participates (and I will try harder to do so in 2015 :)
Social media - It is insane to me that over 15 million people follow what we are up to on various social media outlets around the world. We have an amazing social network team of ladies who are passionate and love this community and try do their best to stay on top of everything and I am so thankful to them and to you. We are so honored and humbled to try and find things that interest you, excite you, teach you about the SG community and keep up with all the rules that the networks have and are constantly changing.
The hopefuls and thinking about maybe one day being hopeful - I am so inspired by your stories, beautiful images, new ideas, enthusiasm and courage. Everyday I get e-mails from women with the most incredible stories about how or why SG has touched their lives and is something that they wish to maybe pursue or to just observe and support. I am so thankful to everyone who models or thinks of modeling.
The Burlesque Tour - I thought that the tour was a fun experiment from days past and I would have not believed that it was coming back. 2014 though proved that we could do this for a long time, that people are interested and we can put on a hell of a fun show. I hope that 2015 brings us to even more locations and affords us the opportunity to meet even more fans.
Getting to go to Australia with the Burlesque Tour - Shortly after starting SG I went to Australia for a bit which was awesome but this time getting to meet all of the fans and people and seeing the WHOLE country was an unforgettable experience. Getting to meet OGSG's like Christina in person and getting to hang out with so many lovely OZSG's was truly a memorable experience. I miss them all so much!
The geek book - This was probably the most fun book to put together because it shares so much of what the girls are passionate about. I love when the girls get to talk about what matters to them.
Comic Con - This was like our 10th year and every time it is so much fun to meet fans, fan girl out on the artists and every year there is some memorable experience that comes out of it. This year was getting to see the girls perform at the Sin City party with Frank Miller there.
Reconnecting with so many amazing OGSG's this year - They are all doing so well in their lives and it makes me so happy to have known them through all of the various facets of their lives. It makes me grateful for this life and to be able to be grateful to be a part of the lives I have known. But also to think forward to the lives of the girls I may barely know now but will one day look back with them on good times spent as well.
The SG staff - who's dedication and love the site would not be the same without. They work tirelessly to make sure everything is up and running and interesting and questions are answered and new girls find us and existing girls are content and shop orders are shipped and new merch is made and books and magazines and features are added and so so much.
Stuff for 2015 - Getting the opportunity to work on so many new projects some which will come to fruition and some that won't but the fact that after 13 years I am still inspired and excited about exploring new facets of the brand AND that other people still feel connected and interested in exploring new projects is incredible.
There is a lot more but I think that you get the point :) Thank you to everyone who reads this and participates on this site. You are an inspiration and I am thankful to you every day.
xoxo
