Hello!
Just a quick note to say how thrilled I am to be the Suicide Girls' new advice columnist, MissTruthHurts! Please email me questions on anything! Sex, love, relationships, career, fashion, style, etc.
I've dished out sex and love advice as Dr. Love for Gene Simmons now defunct men's magazine, Gene Simmons Tongue; and recently published an advice book for edgy chicks titled Cherry Bomb: The Ultimate Guide to Becoming a Better Flirt, a Tougher Chick, and a Hotter Girlfriend, and to Living Life Like a Rock Star.
I can handle any question you throw my way!
If you want to know more about me, here's my bio:
Carrie Borzillo-Vrenna Bio
Carrie Borzillo-Vrenna has been a respected and revered music and entertainment journalist for over a decade, a rock wife for nearly 10, and is making a name for herself as a passionate pop culture author with two critically-acclaimed books under her belt: Eyewitness Nirvana: The Day by Day Chronicle (Carlton Books, 2000; re-issued in an expanded format as Nirvana: The Day to Day Illustrated Journals in 2003) and Cherry Bomb: The Ultimate Guide to Becoming a Better Flirt, a Tougher Chick, and a Hotter Girlfriend, and to Living Life Like a Rock Star (Simon Spotlight Entertainment, Aug. 5, 2008).
A rock chick since birth, she started her music journalism career at age 17, covering the local music scene in her home state of Connecticut before graduating to such publications as Billboard, Spin, Alternative Press, RollingStone.com, and others. She has also written about the love and sex lives of rockstars and celebrities for People, Us Weekly, and Teen People, and served as the sex and relationship advice columnist, Dr. Love, for KISS bassist Gene Simmons' men's magazine Tongue. She has penned numerous major magazine cover stories for Billboard, TeenPeople, CosmoGirl! and Hit Parader.
Her career claims to fame are these: 1. She was the youngest journalist to become an editor in Billboard magazine's100-year history. 2. The New York Times said this of her now defunct music gossip column Miss Truth: "This is Liz Smith for Generation Y." 3. BAM magazine hailed her as one of the most influential Californians in the music industry. 4. Cherry Bomb spent a week at number one on Amazon's best-selling fashion books list, and went into its second printing just 10 days after its release. It's now in its third pressing.
Carrie has appeared as a music and/or relationship expert on MTV, VH1, E!, CNN, Fuse, and MSNBC among others. The author has also appeared on the following media outlets or in publications to promote her book, Cherry Bomb: Fox News Channel's Red Eye, TV Guide Channel, WTNH New Haven, CT, ManiaTV's All Access, Vlaze Network's Rock Remedy, Vogue Fashion Rocks, CosmoGirl!, The Onion, LA Weekly, New York Press, Connecticut magazine, Pasadena magazine, Filter, Hit Parader, and various daily newspapers and radio stations across the country and on Sirius and XM satellite radio networks.
Among the press accolades for Cherry Bomb: "Carrie Borzillo-Vrenna has taken the fluffy and tired genre known as grrrl guides and given it claws - black, of course." (LA Weekly) "It's a wickedly funny, informative and alternately sexy and cute book Carrie Borzillo-Vrenna is indeed an expert and an authority on how to be a chick who rocks and her tone is always affectionate and supportive of her fellow femmes and she never adopts a snarky, ironic or sarcastic tone." (Hit Parader) "Borzillo-Vrenna flips the idea of a girl guide head over spiked heels and delivers an encyclopedia of awesomeness for gals who aren't afraid to take life into their own hands and live by their own rules." (SuicideGirls.com) "Think of it as a cool girl's guide to life." (CosmoGirl!)
She earned equal kudos for her Nirvana book: "Borzillo did her homework, researching every stop on every tour and interviewing key players giving a useful and interesting read." (Chicago Sun-Times). "Fastidiously slotting in facts and figures amid the once-mischievous Cobain's growing despair-- essential reading for any fan still hungry for a piece of the '90s finest." (Kerrang!)
The author is currently writing the official autobiography of adult film star Tera Patrick and her rock star husband Evan Seinfeld, and has just launched her new advice column, MissTruthHurts, on SuicideGirls.com.
Carrie lives in Los Angeles with her Grammy Award-winning husband Chris Vrenna, who plays keyboards in Marilyn Manson and is currently co-producing the band's new CD.
