SPOILERS! (Click to view)
I am experiencing a difficult time in parenting. Hendrix is 10 months old now and he's mobile, but doesn't yet understand the world. He hits me and pinches. He doesn't mean to hurt but when he gets excited the only way he knows how to express it is to hit things (often my face). When i'm sitting on the bed, he uses my arms to pull himself up to stand by digging his little fingers into my flesh. I have little fingerprint bruises all over them. He also throws things. That's how he wants to play. He doesn't want to stack his stacker toy, or put together his puzzles. He wants to just throw the shit off the bed and watch me pick it up. Then throw it again. And i think it's about to get even harder because i think he will walk soon. He is starting to realize he can reach stuff better by standing and that it sucks to be on his knees all the time. Fuck. I'm going insane and I could use a break once in a while.
There's all kinds of books on pregnancy, and early infant-hood, and how to discipline a toddler, but none of them mention what to do during this period. When the baby is mobile, but still not understanding anything. If any of you know any PLEASE recommend them. I don't know what to do. I feel like i spend all day telling him, "NO! and 'STOP! You'll fall!" and "No no, put that down", "Don't touch that!" "Don't eat that!" "Don't hit mommy!" *sigh* I feel like i should be helping him develop his little brain and instead i'm just yelling at him all the time.
