Normally I get to check this every weekend. Well last weekend I was unable to because i was busy being a doula!!!
It was awesome. Now i'm sure i definitely want to try and get certified and I want that to be my other job (other than illustrator)
What a wonderful job. She had a natural birth via hypnosis just like me. I was there to relax her with ever contraction. I would say "Take a deeeeeep breath. Three, two, one, sleep." and touch her forhead and her whole body would go limp. She labored in the tub for a while when she was getting closer and i got behind her and sat on the edge and held her head up. Then i picked her up (all 5' 2" of me!) when she was ready to get out and walk over to the bed to have her baby. As she was pushing i held her hand and kept a cool wash rag on her head. That's pretty much the short version. I did a lot in the 15 hours she was in labor. And there wasn't one time where i felt like "uuggghh i want to go home" or "i wish this would hurry up". I really enjoyed every minute of it.
And Hendrix was there the whole time! I'm so proud of him. He only cried twice and it was only because he had been sleeping and woke up to be nursed. But i nursed him right back to sleep both times. And when he woke up and wanted to play he played quietly with himself and Mr. Giraffe (his stuffed giraffe rattle). What a good boy!
