Have you ever noticed that there are some feelings that you could never articulate as well as a song does? Song writers have a brilliant way of wording things. I appreciate and respect those who are like that. I think it takes a wise and talented person to do so. They help make us understand and relate. The message is so direct but with delivered with grace. I've been in a grey haze for a long time now; So to see things 'black and white' even if it's only for the duration of a song, is refreshing.
A song I was introduced to was 'Summer in the City' by Regina Spektor and there are lines in that song that really speak to me. Not only is it a beautiful melody that makes my heart soar and makes the hair on my arms stand up... but the lyrics are really deep.
"I've been hallucinatin' you babe" [lyrics from the song] this is something that I've done on more than one occasion. I'll be walking through the mall and see someone from the back and mistake them for a friend. Although I know there is no way it could be them, my heart wants to believe it is... so I can feel close to them again. I thought it was amazing that a song captured a moment like that with such clever lyrics.
The truths found in songs is something too many people take for granted. It may be a catchy tune... but there is a large difference between hearing a song, and listening to it. Take the time out of your day to get lost in someone's genius way of articulating life's tender moments. I envy those with beautiful voices who's words flow from their lips so effortlessly.
I'm off to play this song a dozen times before I carry on with my daily actitivities. Finding small pleasures like that makes the day run a bit smoother I find
my best friend who I've been hallucinating. Miss you babe <3
