Back from the Cedar Point trip. I had a good time, and I enjoyed meeting all you guys. I have to apologize if I seemed a little stand offish in the evening, but I have a fucked up knee, and I was in extreme pain. EvanX I hope you made it home. SYH653 and Speedphreak I hope you enjoyed the Peon experience.
So now that the trip is over I am back to my regularly scheduled life. Drag racing, drag racing, drag racing!!!!!
For those of you who don't know the story of how my knee became so fucked up here it is:
Second time out with a new drag truck, that was calculated to be 2 seconds faster than what I was used to. Plus on top of that I was just coming back from a rear end break two weeks prior, so I was already a little nervous. I pull up and at the hint of the third yellow I hit the throttle and I hear "KABOOM!" and the next thing I know, the shifter and my hand are in my lap, I am being burned by hot transmission fluid, the cab is filling up with smoke and the shrapnel from the transmission case is bouncing off my helmet and all over the interior of the truck. I get the truck stopped, half hop/half flop out and find that my knee is messed up badly. I look into the truck and see a gaping hole in the floor, where the transmission came up through. Damn....that is a bad day at the track. I am still feeling the effects of this event every time I walk, my knee is pretty messed up and every once in a while my right thumb will twitch.
And there you have it folks, the life of a drag racer, the crazy thing is that we (drag racers) all have these moments, but only death will keep you out of the car.
