I survived. I'm in a bit of pain, but I made it. There are some blisters on my tootsies, pain in my knees and calves and an ankle that has seen better days, but I did it. I did have to take a sweep van for about a mile and a half on Saturday, but I'm okay with it. I took it to take care of some blisters that were about to pop out and luckily, I think doing so saved me from missing more miles on Sunday.
I was in pain on Friday night, and in even more pain on Saturday night. I woke up in the middle of the night about to cry and had to psyche myself out by remembering how people go through the pain that comes with cancer. So Sunday morning was difficult, but at least the mileage wasn't as much... 15 miles.
My friend that walked with me got red carded on Saturday which meant she couldn't walk anymore. She had a stress fracture in her foot. She was out for Sunday as well. She was so bummed out. I felt so bad for her. But she was reminded, and we kept reiterating, that it wasn't about the miles, it was about the fundraising and the awareness. She's going to make up the 24+ miles that she missed out on walking. I'm making up my mile and a half as well.
The feeling after finishing was completely overwhelming, but it hit me more as I stood in the shower crying last night at home.
Wow... I did it, and I think I'll do it again!
