There are two reasons, actually, make that three reasons why I haven't been here for such a long time. Firstly, I forgot my password . Secondly, I deleted my account and didn't realise I could still access the site until August. Thirdly, and requiring the most explantion -
There was a time when I was wholeheartedly into the principals of SG. Yet the more I observed, the more I realised that the girls on this site still conform to the images of women that media and popular culture have instilled upon our socitey. Sure, there are 'bigger' (and I use the term loosely) girls here, but they still have smooth skin and no unsightly lumps or bumps to behold. I feel that the majority of girls here are all fairly skinny, and without the crazy hair and makeup, tattoos and piercings, they would appear just like any other regular catwalk/magazine model. Most of the ladies I supported when I originally joined this site in 2004 have left as have most of my friends. I was really dissapointed with the DVD, and while I did not attend the "burlesque" show that toured Australia earlier this year (after viewing the DVD and realising that it was far from a well organised, choreographed show), as I expected many reviews of the night painted it in a very poor light.
While I think that the fundamental ideologies of Christiantity are good ie. love they neighbour, greed is wicked, yadda yadda yadda, I believe that organised religion is an abomination. In a lateral thinking kinda way, I relate this to what SG has become. While I am still in favour of the original concept of Suicide Girls, I feel that it has become far too commercial and really has stepped away from it's goal to portray an alternative to modern sexual imagery of women. I'll take a 1950's playboy anyday. Far more tasteful, stylish and realistic. And I'm spent.
