Layers of Geekiness Like an Onion

So Ive added another layer of geekiness a Doctor Who layer.

I was terrified of Doctor Who as a kid. My big sis and I when we were about five and seven would watch two television programs (Polka Dot Door and Todays Special for any Canadians out there). But after that Doctor who would come on and we found...

Yes - better for two reasons. First - bananas are better than guns. Second - there's always money in the banana stand!

Booya - two references!

Galas and Auctions

Saturday was my big Spring Gala I was helping to organize and you know what? It went really, really well!

The room looked beautiful, the entertainment was great and people really seemed to enjoy it.

I think the most interesting part for me was seeing the live auction that took place. Ive been to charity auctions before but always with some volunteer...

Yeah I kinda went crazy. It's for a good cause but, seriously, what am I going to do with these DVDs of the entire run of "Mama's Family" wink
johnnyzombie:
I'm glad it went well.

A friend of mine was trying to organize a silent auction for her chemo treatments and medical bills. I offered to auction off myself, but then felt one of our friends would fetch a higher price. He said, "no." Honestly, I think pimping him out would have helped tremendously.

I'm been to farm auctions (the ones with the fast-talking auctioneers). I can't say that a horse, or a tractor, would fit inside of a birdhouse. But, what do I know? skull

I haven't blogged in a few days. My world felt like it imploded on Thursday night. I was crushed. I might share what happened at some point... maybe.

There are big changes coming for me.

I'm lucky that I have great friends, great family and one person who will always be by my side.

Sorry about the vague and cryptic blog. I'll be back to...

A Geeky Blog: Dungeons and Dragons

So the website this comes from doesn't exist anymore... so I had to dig a bit to find these. But as someone who happens to have rolled a twenty sided die at a few points in my life - I found this quite funny. It is from a website that was called bookofratings.com.

Displacer Beast

As far as I...

Hold it, you were posting this AND watching Doctor Who?! Please tell me you own a Battlebot! And that you know the god number and can solve any Rubix Cube in just twenty moves.
johnnyzombie:
Gelatinous Cube? I think I used that to cure sunburn one time. Rot Grub? That's the cheap take out I had last night.

The last time I played D&D was this past summer. A friend of mine set up a D20 modern game for me to play. It was set in an urban landscape--a pulp detective story, in which I was the detective. The trail led me to a black magic sorceress, and her zombie lover. Fortunately, I aimed for the head, and my saving throw saved my life. It was fun. What's even better--I hadn't played in years, proved I still got it. I didn't get killed once. smile

You may have seen this before, but it is worth repeating.

Just so ya know, the show wasn't actually cancelled, they just shut down production on it for the rest of this season. So you may yet see Charlie Sheen back on that awful show!

Just fascinating.

Things that are going my way today:

Good feedback at work!

Got my credit card in the mail (spend, spend, spend)!

I was too rushed to get the garbage out this morning but garbage day is tomorrow because of the long weekend!

It's Friday!

I get to spend tonight both snuggling AND cuddling (they're different you know)!

Snowstorms and Comics

Today has been a nice little day so far. Very literary!

I met with my book club this morning. Discussed the book Night and had some good discussions. I always feel I should be more insightful than I am. But I always enjoy it. Then the conversation moved towards religion which I guess isnt surprising considering the book. After that the topic...

Well... one third of the books/comics there are directly because of you. And indirectly pretty much all of them except What Disturbs Our Blood.

So if they seem kinda dark... smile

Lazy Blog/Fun and Cute Stuff!

I've always been facinated by giant squids and octopus/octopi/octopod (all are correct!).

They facinate me because of this kind of stuff

And who doesn't love otters... awwww... otters. I was telling S about this video today.

You're my otter. biggrin
smaptie:
Once again I'm frightened by the fact that Karl made some sense, why do octopuses look so cute and friendly in cartoons and utterly terrifing in real life. I mean they could be anywhere and you wouldn't know it. Anywhere.
