A Blog about Comics
I was lucky to have a great friend Erik who introduced me to comics when I was in University. He handpicked the best comics for me to read - a handful of the classics as well as the Watchmen, Grendel, and my favourite Sandman. I spent a lot of my time between studying in my second year of university lying around in bed with a stack of comic books.
I even ended up having some fun with the guy who owned the local comic book store. But that is a story for another time.
DumaBoy, who featured in some of my other stories, was impressed by my comic book knowledge. He told me of a trip he took to get one of his comics signed by Neil Gaiman when he was in the middle of writing the Sandman series. He asked him to sign it to Duma and Gaiman commented on the name and asked what it meant. DumaBoy gave some info and background about it. There was actually a character in a later Sandman comic called Duma. Not saying its related - but you never know!
I went without reading comics for a while and then got into a series this last summer. I realized how much I love crashing out in bed with the dogs lying around me and a stack of comics. I need to do it more often.
I also think one of the sweetest things ever is a boy who reads a comic book on my recommendation. Im so in love with one who did!
So - this weekend coming up I think I am taking a trip to the comic book store and I am open to any and all comic book recommendations!

Ouch. Ow ow ow. Back in the Tardis I go.
I just read the first volume of the series, "The Strange Adventures of H.P. Lovecraft." I'm a Lovecraft fan, and so I got a kick out of reading this sort of pulp adventure series. You might like it.
I'd really like to check out some of the titles from Dynamite--especially since they brought back Lee Falk's The Phantom.
