First Kiss
I had my first kiss when I was 17. Keep in mind, I always liked the bad boys.
In grade 12 at 17 years of age I was trying so badly to not be the geeky kid I was. I wore my 10-hole Doc Martins and my secondhand flannel shirt. I think, looking back, I was pretty cute - but I was also in the "gifted" kids class and nothing is the kiss of death for dating like being in the gifted class full of weird kids. Not to mention that I was painfully shy.
My English class had about 12 students in it, most were the year above me. This included FallacyBoy. At this point you should picture stars in my eyes while I thought about him. I would spend class calculating how many times I could look at him in class without he or anyone else noticing.
He had red hair and bright eyes and an easy laugh. He was outgoing and friendly and always had a smile for everyone.
As if all of that wasn't enough for a 17 year-old girl's fantasy he also played lead guitar in a band. Sigh.
Let me tell you right now - FallacyBoy was not my first kiss.
The final school dance of the year approached. My friends and I would not have normally gone to a school dance but FallacyBoy's band was going to play for the last hour. The fangirl in me was having heart palpatations.
By the time FallacyBoy's band came onstage most people were gone - a small crowd of their friends remained. A lot of this next part are lost to memory but a boy tapped me on the shoulder and asked me to dance. A boy with dark hair and darker brown eyes.
RunawayBoy and I started doing that awkward highschool dancing - FallacyBoy and his band were playing Alive by Pearl Jam.
Lyrics: Is something wrong she said...
Thought: I'm dancing with this guy who has amazing brown eyes - does FallacyBoy see me?
Lyrics: well of course there is...
Thought: oh my god, he's going to kiss me!
Lyrics: Your still alive, she said... and do I deserve to be... is that the question...
Thought: he's kissing me!... am I doing this right?... ew! Why his his whole tounge in my mouth!?!
Lyrics: And if so... if so... who answers... who answers...
I knew he wasn't a good kisser. I had read enough YM, Sassy and Seventeen Magazines to know he shouldn't have that much of his tounge in my mouth. But - I had my first kiss!
I think he kissed me goodbye at the end of the night... I heard a few days later that he ranaway from home and I didn't see him again.
Monday morning FallacyBoy made a number of comments to me about the guy I was dancing with. I was embarrassed but also thrilled that he had noticed. I mean, he was so out of my league!
What did FallacyBoy write in my yearbook before he left for University that year?
"You looked hot at the dance"

smaptie:
Thats a sweet story. I started getting a sixteen candles feel. I was 17 as well and got a call from my next door neighbor (3/4 a mile away ah life in the mountains). She had a friend who had a crush on me so we all snuck out at night and walked through the woods to meet (she was a basketball player much higher than the optimum 5'3). Well yada yada yada she just ups and kisses me. I was quite shocked by how far someone can stick a tongue in your mouth if they are really trying.
