I had some miniature disasters this morning - it's volcano day, I had an assessment and halfway to the bus stop I realised I'd forgotten an integral part of my project. Distaster. I was already late, I could either go back home to pick up my work and risk being late, or not hand in part of my portfolio. Oh no! I decided to risk it and plodded back home in the heat in search of the folder.
But by the time I got there it was far too late for the bus, I'd never have made it. I woke up my sister (a snarling beast in the morning's light, not happy that her day off had been interrupted) and we exchanged verbal blows - one side trying to convince the other that it really was a good idea to get ready and take her to the station... but it wasn't meant to be, so I stormed off in the direction of a cash machine and the number of a reputable taxi firm.
As it happens, I got there with a little time to spare... but a little worse off as far as my bank is concerned. I even had time to pick up Martha Wainwright's new album (which is fantastic, by the way).
The boy was acting in a particularly infuriating smug manner, which is a bit rich as he didn't hand in his children's book project on time and spent all of yesterday's session sulking against a wall with his hat (who wears a hat in this weather? I saw another ex of mine wearing a woolen hat today and it's b o i l i n g hot) pulled down over his ratty little eyes (bitter much?). But I only saw him for a few minutes, during which time he mentioned my name to our tutor John as if I weren't even there.
Good things about this weather include:
- cheese and pineapple toasties
- ice cream
- wearing shorter dresses
- everybody rides a Vespa
- Kula Shaker is the epitome of summer soundtracks
Bad things about this weather include:
- my dress blowing up in the breeze
- being far too hot to wear stockings
- getting so tired whilst climbing!
Also if you haven't looked at my website lately, you should. It's rather good you know.
