Tattoo!
So this week's homework set by @missy & @rambo is to tell y'all about our first tattoos.
Now, I didn't get my first tattoo until I was 19 and after I turned pink, but you don't see it until my 3rd FP set!
I mention this because I see so many stupid comments on various social networking sites about girls not having them and that SGs are meant to. This is fucking dumb. Stop it.
Anyway...
My first tattoo was the script that I have on the back of my neck.
"I invent nothing, it's all there." Which is a quote from my name's sake, Joan Miró, my favourite artist. It was done by Rose Hardy at Cult Classic in Romford, Essex.
I remember being so excited but so scared! Not of the pain but of the reaction my parents were going to have. They were so pissed when I said I was going and so so so pissed when I came back. My mum didn't talk to me for a few days and my dad a week. Luckily they got over it, and now, whilst not a massive fan of my tattoos, they accept that it's a part of who I am.
For those who aren't familiar, Miró's work is very abstract and surreal and some say, child like in appearance. However many of his paintings are scenes of life, which is what the quote describes.
For me, as an artist, this is very important to me. All my work is born out of personal experiences, good and bad. That's what that quote means.
Whilst it's still important to me, I'm not that fussed about the tattoo. I don't think I'll get it covered, but might get it added to. I deffo wish I'd picked a nicer script and not put it there! Hahah!
Well that's that!
What was your first tattoo? And do you still like it, or are you/have you got it covered?!
