Remember the days you put a game on and within a few minutes you were playing. What the hell happened to that era? Nowadays you stick a game on the Xbox or Playstation you wait about 15-20 minutes before you actually get to play. Lot's of cinematic intro's, little movies, the tutorial which seems to last forever. I've just spent 45 minutes on a game and played about 5 minutes! I remember when you coould get a game in within 30 minutes, nowadays you have to set aside about 3 hours to have a decent session.
Metal Gear Solid started it all in my opinion, great game...but it was 5 minutes playing and the next 20 making a sandwich and a cup of coffee watching a movie unfold before you. If I wanted to watch a film I'd buy a DVD!
I'm all for storylines but an option to skip the films and having a written summary would be nice. Now let me contact my PA and see if I can pencil in some Halo time this week....
