Ok, this homework will requiere a big memory effort, because I applied to SG 12 years ago!!!
I don't really remember much, I remember I was on a forum (big hit back then on 2006) and it was full of nerdy guys who were madly in love with Suicide Girls. I remember seeing their pictures and thinking "Damn they are amazing, so full con confidence, so original and so empowered!" and one day I was with a friend and she said "Hey, why don't you apply?". I was sure I was not going to be accepted, I was a young 19 year-old gal from Argentina, no piercings, no tattoos, no colorful hair, but I applied anyway.
And I waited until one day I opened my email and read:
"Hey there! Thanks for your application to become a SuicideGirl. You look perfect for our site, and you've now passed the first stage of the application process. You are on your way to becoming a SuicideGirl - we just need a few more things from you."
I almost died right there on that spot! I logged in, completed a lot of information but then it was time to find a photographer and...I didn't know anyone here!!! So I waited and waited to find the courage to do my first set...I waited for 12 years!
Last year I finally decided to start a new Instagram account to upload "sexy" pictures of myself, as a way of regaining my self-esteem that was a bit low back then. I started following alternative models and Suicide Girls was one of the first pages I followed, because even though 11 years had passed, I never forgot how much I wanted to be here. I started following official Suicide Girls but I also found the amazing hopefuls from my own country. I remember that one of the first Argentinean girls I followed was @calalini because she went to college with my best friend, but then I found @vanilla_, @emanuelle and @lorayne on instagram and fell in love with their profiles, and so something clicked in me, this was going to be my year of joining these amazing girls! After that I followed everyone from the Argentinean community and one day I replied to a story from @namphotographyart and was incredibly lucky because he saw something in me and asked me to join a modelling project he was working on and where a lot of local suicides and hopefuls were working as well. I had the chance to meet all the girls, and I felt the #SPIRITOFSG everyone talked about, they were all the most happy, helpful and friendly girls I've ever met, it was a true sorority!
I became real close with Vanilla and @joseline, two beautiful, smart and funny girls who I'm lucky to call my friends. They gave me courage to submit my set, that I shot with @moonchild_ who is the funniest, kindest and most professional photographer I met so far!
My set has still 3 more months to go until it hits MR but I already feel a part of this amazing community. And yeah, it took me a while to get here but I'm thankful to everyone who helped me on my way <3
And here's a picture of the day I finally met them, the beautiful girls from SGArgentina! There were many more that day but I don't have a picture of all of us =(
