So tonight I played coed kickball. I think it has probably been 25 years since I last played kickball. I had a blast! I can be as competitive as I want to be. Mostly I want to win without anyone feeling badly about it. I think that is what happened tonight. I am being asked if I want to play dodge ball also. All the childhood games are coming back. I hear smear the queer is now called catch and tackle. Probably a good name change, all I can say is I was a kid and I had know idea how someone might not like the name. For those who have never heard of the game. There was a football and whoever had the football was to be tackled. Once they were tackled the football was tossed up. Someone else would pick it up and fifteen or twenty kids would be trying to tackle them. Eventually everyone would get tired enough to be caught. I played everyday at recess for years. One of my favorite childhood recess memories is how I dragged ten kids on my back for twenty feet until they were finally able to tackle me. If I played the same game now I sure I would have some more hospital time under my belt.
