Apartment update.

When I moved in I had next to nothing and was sleeping on a yoga mat, remember?
Cuando me mude tuve casi nada y yo estaba durmiendo en una estera de yoga, acuerden?

Well, things have most certainly progressed since then.
Bueno, cosas han cambiado desde entonces.

Most times when you move somewhere new you bring your old furniture with you. I was starting completely over so I decided to buy only new things. Nothing second hand, broken, used, the wrong color, none of that. It would take a little longer, but in the end the result would be worth it. My place was going to be pimped. I decided that all the furniture would be black and white and the couch would be bright red.
La mayoria de las veces cuando se mueve a un lugar nuevo que traiga tus muebles viejos contigo. Estaba empezando de nuevo completamente y por esa razon decidi comprar solo cosas nuevas. Nada roto, usado, el color equivocado, nada de eso. Haria falta un poco mas, pero al final el resultado seria vale la pena. Mi lugar iba a ser fantastico. Decidi que todos los muebles seria blanco y negro y el sillon seria rojo brillante.

How I started was by drawing on a piece of paper the way I wanted to layout my apartment. Since it's a studio and very, very small I had to make use of every inch of space. I also wanted to create the illusion of two rooms even though it was only one.
Como empece fue dibujando en una hoja de papel de la manera que queria hacer mi departamento. Dado que es un estudio y muy, muy pequena tuve a usar cada centimetro de espacio. Tambien queria crear la ilusion que hay dos habitaciones aunque hay solo una.

To do that I put the fridge and a bookshelf for plates and glasses on the left of the entrance and put a sectional couch and dresser (still have to buy one) on the right. Creating kind of a false hallway.
Para hacer eso puse la heladera y una estanteria para platos y vasos a la izquierda de la entrada y puse un esquinero y una cajonera (todavia tendra que comprar una) a la derecha. Creando un pasillo falso.


The kitchen. It's very small, but I've been able to make it work. Have plans on making some additional counter top space because there is almost none.
La cocina. Es muy pequeno, pero yo he sido capaz de hacerlo funcionar. Tengo planes de hacer un poco de espacio mas para trabajar en la cocina, ya que no hay casi ninguna.






The bedroom. Pretty basic for now. Will be doing more to it later.
El dormitorio. Bastante basico por ahora. Lo voy a hacer mas en un rato.

My workspace has greatly improved.
Mi espacio de trabajo ha mejorado mucho.



The bar. An essential for any bachelor pad.
El bar. Un elemento esencial para cualquier departamento.

The living room. A week ago it was just a bench. Now I finally have the couch I was dying to get. Still not much, but it was one of the most expensive things I needed to cross off of my list so now things should move forward pretty quickly again. Looking to buy a few more items for the living room in the next week or two.
El living. Hace una semana que era solo un banco. Ahora por fin tengo el sillon que estaba muriendo de conseguir. Todavia no es mucho, pero era una de las cosas mas caras que tenia que tachar de mi lista de cosas por lo que ahora deben avanzar muy rapido de nuevo. Quiero comprar un poco mas de elementos para el living en la proxima semana o dos.


A very large sectional couch may not seem like a great idea for such a small apartment, but it's going to be serving double duty as a guest bed at some point, so I think it was a wise choice.
Un gran esquiero puede no parecer una gran idea para un pequeno apartamento, pero se va a estar haciendo una doble funcion como una cama de invitados en algun momento, por lo que creo que fue una buena eleccion.

And finally I think I can throw a party in my place, now that people can actually sit somewhere comfortable. So, it looks like the first one will be pretty soon. Yes, I'll be making some nice food to eat for it, too. Stay tuned for your invitation.
