Sorry about the incommunicado, fellas (and fellettes). Work has been insane. I took this job for extra cash, and it has rapidly turned into a cultural revolution in the mingarden.
Only one day off this week---I had to go in today, even though I was supposed to be off, because of some badly patched scheduling which resulted in absolutely no one being there for an hour, and then four cashiers clambering for a drawer for the following seven. So, anyway, I was a cashier once upon a time at a sex shop, but only for about a month. Now I'm fixing to be a real live cashier, and I've mastered the art in about four shifts. I hate to say it, but I'm kind of proud of learning a new thing. It might be a sort of basic new thing, but it's new nonetheless. New for the me. Of course, now that I've got it pretty much down I'm on to the next thing. It's too bad business is so hierarchical; if they were thinking outside the capitalist box, I could be there bookeeper next month and their CFO in three or four. Then back to cashiering to learn a new computer system, and a few restocking shifts thrown in for color.
Alas, it is not to be. I will either keep doing this until I get my doctorate, or will quit after another few months. I get bored so easily. Why is work always such an exercise in boredoom?
