I just coped and pasted my post from the "My mom hates my body mods" group:
my dad just saw my new lip ring. he threw his fork across the room, kicked the cat, and told me I was mutilating myself and that piercings are a sign of low self-esteem and a sign that "something is wrong." then he stormed out of the room. I thought he was going to hit me. scary shit. after he calmed down a bit I tried to explain about piercings and why they're okay and that my self-esteem was fine, but he just shook his head and sighed.
It really sucks being modified and not being able to share the joy it gives me with my parents.
