Last night, in work (I work for a careline), I got told off by a paramedic because I received a call from an 87-year-old woman who was suffering from serious breathing difficulties and needed help. This dickhead paramedic told me, when he eventually arrived, that it was only a mild asthma attack, and not life-threatening, and that I should've called a doctor first. I told him that if I'd called a doctor in the middle of the night that they won't attend and they would've told me to simply call an ambulance, and probably would've berated me for wasting time talking to them before doing so.
I'm getting a lot of this kind of shit from the emergency services lately (firefighters not wanting to attend to fire alarms, police not wanting to attend to crimes in progress, etc.) and it's really pissing me off / worrying.
So, for future reference... 87-years-old? Can't breathe? Pull yourself together and get over it, is the message from your NHS.
