Marianne and I went to the American Cancer Society's breakfast this morning for the walk in October. We're going to be forming a group, and I'm hoping to get other local SG's involved for our fund raising and even to walk with us on October 3rd.
We really came up with some great ideas. I'm looking to start giving out free prints to people who donate $10 or more, and we're also planning on setting up a booth at First Friday next month. Any local artists are free to email me if you're interested in helping out.
I mean, it only makes sense. SG's are pink, the symbol for the fight against breast cancer is called "going pink". Am I right?
I've never done anything that really made me feel selfless. Sure I help my friends out from time to time with money, or support my family and friends with little things here and there, but I've never taken time out of my life for a cause that means something to me.
Cancer runs in my family, and the likely-hood of me getting it is VERY high. My grandpa passed away from lung cancer, my uncle recently from liver cancer, and a little over a year ago... I wrote about my uncle daddy bob on here. He had brain cancer, and the process of him going from being fine, to gone was heartbreaking. I still cry over him from time to time.
I know that with your help me and Marianne's (comment her hot set in member review) group can raise awareness to the local community of how important it is to even make sure you're on time with all of your dr's appointments, and staying on top of your health. Women, we especially need to make sure we're getting our vitamin D! Studies have shown that vitamin D is something that will help us! I know we can do it!! GO TEAM SG!
