IT'S A MIRACLE!!!
It's about time I updated you folks on the going ons since the last post, which was over a month ago.
The "gf" and I officially called it off October 28th. We had the longest phone conversation... scratch that.... we had the longest conversation since June when we got back together. That's saying something. The conversation went well. No one is heart broken. We finally left it on good terms.... although, I do have my suspicions about a few things, but i'll get to that later.
Anywhoo... we broke it off and it was fine. We had planned to carve the pumpkins, that we got the week before, the night before halloween. So the day after we end things and say we're going to be friends, we hang out and carve pumpkins. She wasn't talking much. she reverted back to her frumpy self, but we managed through and despite her being over tired i think she actually enjoyed herself.
Now it's time to say good bye and walk her to her car. we talk briefly, hug each other... and........ she doesn't let go. She holds on tight. This i was not expecting, but it was enjoyable. I mean... this is the first amount of extended physical contact i had with this girl since July. We hold each other and talk and i crack a couple little jokes and squeeze her toosh. she giggles a little. And just when i thought we reached our peak.... we start kissing.
We kiss as if we hadn't seen each other in months. We kiss like it was that night back in June when we first started seeing each other again. These were spectacular kisses. This is the most tongue since July!!! I accept it. I allow it. I let it happen for no other reason than, I dont want it to end. But it has to end sometime and it does.
I can see the passion in her eyes, but i can tell there's something blocking it. When we were kissing i could feel our hearts open up to each other. And now... now she's got to go home. Now we go back to the way things were for the last 3 months only without the title. Now we go back 6 years to just being friends.
I kiss her one last time as she gets in her car and tell her I'll always love her no matter how grumpy she gets and that if she ever needs anything to not hesitate to call me. (because that's the kind of friend I am)
Of course, I had to go and make a stupid comment that nearly ruined the entire moment.... but... in the long run it is salvageable.
Now... it has been almost 2 weeks. we've had 1 phone conversation 2 text convos and 3 IM sessions. The phone conversation ran longer than the other 2 combined. We're supposed to go to NYC this weekend with my friend Joe. I wonder if she'll actually want to make the trip. My friend Alexis lives in NYC and if the "xgf" doesn't want to go, I think Alexis would love to see Hamlet with Joe and I.
So that is essentially the update on that whole escapade from july-now.
In OTHER NEWS:
My Ultimate (frisbee) team, DISCtinguished Gentlemen, entered our first Tournament. (which happened to be the day after my x and i kissed. aka Halloween) The Lemony Fresh Fall Classic was held in Woods Hole, Falmouth, Ma.
First game of the day we played MIT. (yes. THE Mass Institute of Technology). And they destroyed us 13-1
Second game was against RIC (Rhode Island College) We beat them 13-9. But it was the most fun we had all day. They came over to us after and did a cheer for us, which was hysterical. And all their players came dressed as Characters from Super Smash Bros. It was awesome!
Third game was against Wentworth who was currently vying for 2nd place in our pool. And sure enough, they beat us 13-3.
Last game of day 1 was against our regional rivals- BSC (Bridgewater State College). We've played them twice in "regular season play. We lost once and won once. And in the final game of day 1 they beat us 13-9.
They may be our rivals... but their more of a sister team to us than anything. It would be like the Patriots vs. the Buffalo Bills.
Day 2
-last game of pool play
-bracket division play in 2 games.
So the last game of pool play for us was a BYE. it was a win for us because one of the teams that was supposed to show up the day before (BATES) never showed. So they forfeit all their games. Reason being: SWINE FLU. The whole school was shut down.
So we got an auto win. This put us from 1-3 to 2-3. Reserving a spot for the chance to place 5th over all. If we lost we wouldn't be less than 7th or 8th. (out of 12 teams)
On to official tournament play.
Our 1st game was to one of the only other teams we played in our regular season.
Sandwich Ma- Fish Tacos at Night
of course, half their team plays for BSC, the ones left over were beaten down. they had 7 players when we started the game. (that's minimum for a game) and by half time one of them was so sick he had to stop playing. so we agreed to play 6 on 6 instead.
We beat them 15-6.
That means we made it to our "Division Final".
we were to play the winner of the game between BSC and Oliver Ames.
it was like a movie- we ended up facing BSC again.
We started off with a 3 point lead and held it up until a point before half time and they came back on a 4 point run to go into the half BSC: 8 DISCtinguished Gentlemen: 7.
after the half BSC went on a tear. they were now up 12-8.
We managed to put some shit together and we went on a 5-1 run to put us at 13 a piece.
it's the first to 15, but you have to win by 2 points.
If we score both points now we win.
if we split, we have to keep playing.
If they get 2 we lose.
a couple miraculous plays and a time out later and we're on the endzone line. we set up a nice play that involve me cutting in to the corner and the handler. (the man on my team with the disc) we start. I make the cut. I run towards him... he fires a friggin laser beam and ...................... it bounce of my sternum and flies off 8 feet away. (turn over)
they force their way down field and try for the pt, but superb defense on our part keeps them out.
we make another break for our endzone. passes all around. I get a midfield pass and i line one right down to the corner of the endzone for a TD.
we are now up 14-13.
one more point and we win.
If they score here we keep playing.
We throw off.
it's an intense battle.
a couple of turnovers. a pass to midfield. I receive. I throw to opposite corner of endzone. TD!
WE WIN!!!
15-13!!!
We came in 5th over all and 1st in our division!!
here's the link to the bracket and stuff. feel free to click on our team (DISCtinguished Gentlemen)
For a prize, we got champagne. We had a champagne shower like the pros do and we went home happy.
regular season
DG vs. BSC 1-1
Tournament
DG vs. BSC 1-1
directly after the win we had BSC come over to our sideline for some brewskies. We congratulated each other and spoke of merry things.
One of my best friends who is on my team, Mike, went to and graduated from BSC. One of the kids on BSC said they recognized him. I told them that he went there, and another player IS going there. I also informed them that I went there for a year and I will be returning for grad school.
As soon as I mentioned that I'd be going back for grad school 2 of them promptly said, "You can play for us then!" It was an honor to hear that.
I am nowhere near being a great player. I am good, but i'm not perfect. I have flaws. But the kids from BSC see something in me... and that's something that makes me feel good.
Anywhoo.... Time to wrap this up.
I am going into NYC this weekend.
I will be seeing Hamlet (starring Jude Law) & Finnean's Rainbow (i have no idea what that is)
Hopefully i will also see my friend Alexis and my friend Lindsey.
Maybe I'll see you too.
let me know!
Ta ta for now.
