The Behemoth has arrived
I picked up my new (well, second-hand, but new for me) DVD player Tuesday after work . I picked it up by train (I don't have a car, and the guy lived close to a train station), and though a little on the heavy side, that went pretty perfect .
Crappy phone pics alert:
Stats:
- holds 200 DVD's
- 17"x19"x8" (I think that qualifies as a A/V Behemoth )
- 20 lbs and some change (excluding discs)
- Disc Explorer (shows all the titles, folders and stuff on the TV)
- DTS, ProLogic, all that jazz
I put my DVD's in there the other day, and entered all the title and genre stuff. And it turns out I have more DVD's than I thought . It's mainly due to my obsession with special editions, which come with bonus discs . So my Friends box-set (30 dual-sided discs) and a handful of music DVD's are awaiting the arrival of another unit, preferrably the follow-up model of this one, that holds 300 discs and can also play dual-sided discs. No rush though, I'll get that in due time. Those things are scarce on Ebay anyway, at least in Europe.
My new DVD player is the same size as my (also 200 disc) CD player .:
Showing off the rest of my A/V equipment :
The stereo+subwoofer on the left, I bought last week, also used. I only really bought it for the subwoofer and front speakers, because I already have a tapedeck and amplifier. Which is actually slightly better than the amp on the stereo in the picture (more channels), but that sub only works with that specific stereo. If I find another sub, I might trade it. I'm very anal when it comes to my stereo though, it all has to match. So I'm not in a real rush. This A/V stuff I gathered over a period of 12 years, ever since I started working when I was 16. I just buy it one piece at a time . Next on my list is said DVD-player, and another subwoofer. But that will probably wait till at least next year. I spent enough money on that stuff for now .
A picture of my DVD collection under my coffeetable, as I promised weeks ago:
Yeah, I know, my phone cam sucks, it's all blurry. But you get the idea . And yes, I do have a plethora of remotes . When I renew my phone plan in a couple of months, I'm gonna use my old phone as a (programmable and fully customable) remote to replace most of the ones you see there.
Ok, no-one's probably reading anymore, scared away by my tech-induced near-orgasm, so I feel comfortable posting some more private stuff . I don't want that to be the focal point of my blog.
