No matter how cute he is, Oz is driving me crazy the last few days. He's been really misschievous, and has one hell of an oral fixation. The past week I've noticed that he didn't eat all his food (canned wet food) every day. The other day I noticed why: behind the curtain he likes to play/hide behind, I found 2 of those little bags of wet food he really likes, and of which I had a couple stashed for him as a treat because he likes them way more than canned food. Both bags were completely destroyed and emptied out. Today I found another, so that makes 3.
Here's a list of other things he has chewed on/through the past few weeks:
- His toy mice. He strips the fur off, eats the catnip inside, then plays with and chews on the fur for a couple of days untill it's all gone.
- A small bag of cotton balls from my first-aid kit. I found the (half-filled) bag and a trail of cotton pieces, but I have no idea where the rest ended up, what I found couldn't have been all of the cotton that was in the bag. I have a sneaking suspicion he ate some of it.
- Another one of his toys, sorta like a fishing rod with an elastic piece of string and a toy thingy at he end. He chewed through the string 4 or 5 times, chewing it through everytime I had mended it again. After the 5th time, he simply chewed through the string right up against the toy and right up against the rod, making it impossible to mend any further. He actually still plays with the rod, and whacks the toy thingy around when his other toys are on the other side of the room.
- A small stack of napkins. Completely ripped them apart.
- About 6 feet of paper towels, also ripped to shreds.
- A bag of breadrolls I bought on the weekend to take to lunch on Monday. When I wanted to prepare my lunch on Monday morning, I noticed he had made a big hole in the bag, and the breadrolls had dried out. So I had to buy lunch at work.
- A bag of kibble. He decided that he preferred the tuna-flavoured kibble in a bag on the countertop over the beef-flavoured kibble in his bowl. So he made a big hole in the bag and helped himself.
- My fingers. He loves chewing on them. I have a video of that that I might upload some time.
- Various chords, including: the chord of the headset I use(d) for Skype, the chord of a pair of headphones I got on the plane (3 different places), the chord on my phone's charger, and I'm sure I forgot a couple. I swear one of these days either he's gonna electricute himself, or I'll electricute myself when I plug something in.
I love Oz, I really do. But stop eating up my house! I'm a little mad at him, but I forgive him. He's young and doesn't know any better. And he'll outgrow his oral fixation soon enough (hopefully ). And I think having his balls snipped in a few weeks/months is punishment enough already for anything he's done .
