I'm back
. I hope everyone had a good time with the holidays.
I had a good time, but it was very busy. I had a friend staying over for 2.5 weeks, she came the friday before xmas. So she got to spend christ ams with me and my family, after which we took on a week-long tour of Europe. We visited 2 friends in The Netherlands, after which we left for Belgium to meet up with someone in Ghent. We spent the night in a nice hotel with a jacuzzi tub and breakfast served in our room (fresh made bread too!) for about a 100 bucks a night. A sweet deal if you ask me.
After that, it was a quick stop at Brussels for some chocolate, before we set off to Paris. We arrived there newyears's eve, only to discover that Paris doesn't have any fireworks show. That kinda sucked, but we had a good time anyway
. We spent newyear's day walking around Paris, seeing all the sights. According to the map, we walked between 12 and 15 miles that day, not too bad I'd say
. We saw a lot, though the Louvre wasn't open on newyear's, and there was a huge line at the Eiffel tower so we didn't go up.
After a second night in Paris, we took a bullet train to Luxembourg. Our seats didn't have a window, so we didn't see much of a view, but we had a good time anyway on our 4 hour trip.
Luxembourg was nice, though it was already dark by the time we arrived, and raining. It was so cold! We did have some fun trying out the new glass toys my friend bought in Paris
. I think she must have talked about (using) her toys for 2 out of the 4 hours of our train ride (another hour was spent grinding my leg an trying to convince me to sneak off to the bathroom with her
), so she couldn't wait to try them out :p. We took a little tour around Luxembourg the next morning, the valley is a must-see, it's gorgeous. Then it was off to the train station, for a trip to Frankfurt.
We decided to take a local train instead of the (much) faster bullet train, and it really paid off well. We spent a few hours following the Moselle and Rhine river, with some magnificent views and castles (some ruins, some restored) on top of the hills. It was magical. The train station and our hotel room in Frankfurt were situated in the red light district, so that evening we went out for some more shopping. We bought another really nice glass toy. But seeing the quality of the beds, and the fact that there was a huge gap between them, we didnt get a chance to test it out. It was a nice room though, a corner with plenty of space and windows all around.
Next stop was Cologne, where we visited Europe's biggest cathedral. And big it was, very impressive. The train ride there was pretty boring though. We took the bullet train, adn most we saw was tunnels, the dtch we drove through, and some valleys. Not nearly as spectectular as the trip alongside the Moselle and Rhine. But I have to admit, the time we saved was nice.
After a quick detour through Belgium (fighting off a horny travel companion trying to give me head on the train, I wasn't that daring
), we ended up in Maastricht in the south of The Netherlands, where we spent the night. We did undertake a small walk through the city, and visited the fair. But after 5 days of travel, we were both pretty beat, and ready to go home. So we called it a night pretty early. Then after another 3.5 hour the next day, we were home! YAY!
We saw a friend the next day, we visited a museum with him and his girlfriend. But we were pretty bored, that must have been the most boring museum I've ever visited. So not worth blogging about.
Then today, we got up at 5 AM to take my friend back to the airport. After which I took a nice nap, falling asleep on the phone with a special someone I missed while my friend was here.
To conclude, the past 3 weeks or so were hectic, fun, and busy. But now I'm back
. I missed you all.
*hugs*
