TGIF!!!
The weather has been great lately!!! Very warm and breezy, almost reminds me of Cali. Just got the word I'll be leaving to go to Wisconsin to work in two weeks...believe it or not I'm excited. I needed a change of scenery for about a month or so...plus my wife and son are coming with me, niiice!!!! Two other reasons why I'm excited about going is 1) we're driving from TX to WI so we get to see a region of the country I normally wouldn't venture thru...and 2) I'll only be about 2.5 hrs from Chicago, so I can go there almost every weekend I'm there. I haven't been to Chicago since '91 or '92 so I can definitely forsee things being very different from what I remember. Just when I was really starting to dislike my job and this happens and all of a sudden it's not so bad after all...I'm still trying to find a more stable gig though.
Speaking of a stable gig...I work in an industry that requires one to travel quite a bit in order to make a nice paycheck. While one might say that's a cool way to make some money (as I did in the beginning) the glamour of being on the road quickly fades after working 12+ hr days, 6 days a week on top of being away from your family. We take for granted how stable our lives are and in some cases hate the monotony that becomes our lives. Well, for me I long to get back to the normal day to day activities of life...working in my own yard, taking my son to school and swimming lessons, working out...you know the little things. Don't get me wrong, I've been working close to home for about two months now so I have the opportunity to do all of these things BUT, I miss out on all of these things because of a long work day (12hrs) and the only thing I wanna do when I get home is shower, eat, play with my son, watch some TV and get in the bed (and play with my wife!!!! ). So far this sux!!! I love being at home but not under these circumstances. But I have nothing to worry about, in about two weeks things will change and I'll be wanting to be right back here doing what I'm doing now. Any road warriors out there that can relate??? Gotta go to work!!!
