Man LA was a blurr!!!! We got there Thursday night and it seemed like time just sped up from there. Got to see some family that I haven't seen in a while and some that I don't want to see for as long as I'm alive (more on that later). Since I haven't been in LA in while things just seemed to be different...I guess the scenery was different than what I'm accustomed to seeing, the trees seemed to be greener and the sky a little more blue, which is funny cuz LA is smog capital of the universe. Needless to say I was secretly regretting leaving but that soon changed when I got back to the hood! DAMN DAMN DAMN!!!! Man the hood ain't changed a bit...I think it may have gotten a little worse since I've left but that could just be me and my crazy mind. Staying with my mother-in-law while we were there reminded me of when my wife and I were dating and how I used to be over there all the damn time (those were the days)...Only now I don't feel bad about being there eating up all the food...HA!
Trip highlights...
-Seeing all of my immediate family
-Seeing my cousin and his family from Washington
-Seeing my wife's uncle and his family, we've grown really close.
-Eating In & Out hamburgers...they're like crack if you haven't had one.
-Celebrating my buddy's 30th b-day.
Trip lowlights...
-Seeing how sick my grandfather really is
-Coming this >< close to whipping my uncle's punk ass for cussing out my mom while I'm within earshot...straight up bitch move!!!
-Leaving this laptop in LA and having to pay Fedex a $118 to ship it back today so that I could make this post.
More about my punk ass uncle...This muthafucka has been giving our family (my mom's side) grief for as long as I can remember. At first all of his shit could be blamed on his drinking, we'd accepted that he was a serious alchie and needed help...a semi-excuse. Since he's no longer a raging alchie and has "found God" what excuse does he have now for the shit he causes??? Nothing!!! After years of arguments and apologies, his crazy ass wife (who by the way I don't consider and aunt), and his lack of respect for MY family, it all came to a head Sunday after church at my grandparent's house. Without going into crazy details, this punk ass told my mom "she ain't shit" and "you full of shit", then walked out of the house (quickly) like no one heard him. After asking my mom if I heard him correctly and if that was directed at her I immediately went outside to confront him. Seeing that I'm a lot larger than my uncle I did not anticipate anything physical to pop off unless I hauled off and knocked him the fuck out...so I tried to express to him that regardless of him being a brother and an uncle that that does not give him a pass to talk to my mother like that. He bitches out and says some bullshit that got me even more amped, so at this point I'm ready to reach thru the sun roof of his Benz and give him a tune-up. He pulls off and I give his car a good ole fashion Pele bicycle kick minus the back flip...from what my brother says there's a nice size dent in the back fender...sweet!!! Long story short, I apologized to my grandmother and mother for my uncharacteristic behavior but I vowed the next time I see him I would knock is punk ass out for MY family...that is unless he gets on his knees and begs for mercy, which will never happen so someone is getting served next time I'm home. Man that felt good!!!!
Overall, the trip was well worth it. Whether it was celebrating the life of a beloved aunt or confronting the pariah family member who's been getting away unpunished, it was good to be home...for a minute at least!

Man..I havent heard anything about Marcedes Lewis since the first few mock drafts back in december-january. Last I heard the Bears were looking at him. Thats dope though. I'd like to see him be a factor right off the bat.

Dude looked like a beast in his workout...he was visibly larger than what I remember him being at UCLA. The scouts were definitely looking at him hard cuz of the total package. I know you loving being a UCLA fan right now...reminds me of 95 when they had the O'Bannon brothers w/ Tyus Edney.
