So Sunday and Monday were definitely lazy days and pretty much took my time doing chores and getting ready for the upcoming week of depression. Lol. Well its not so bad but it still sucks and its an honor.
I am on funeral detail for the next couple of weeks. Which means any old person who dies in the state of Kansas and was military are able to have a military burial. I just want to say I hate funerals! I hate seeing dead bodies and I hate seeing people cry! So to add the positive note to this, its an honor to do this for a fellow soldier and for me and my other comrades be the last thing their family sees with their lost one.
With that said I did my first funeral today. We do the whole drill and ceremony, carry the casket, fold the flag, and give the 21 gun salute. It is difficult and amazing. But as I said before I hate funerals. I almost cried myself when we were firing. It was poetic when we were standing in our positions, and literally, when a lady started singing amazing grace..the rain drops started to fall. I was waiting for Jesus to stop by and Im not even remotely religious.lol. Well I take everything in as a new experience and another lesson learned. I have another to do 2morrow.
Unfortunately since it was a 3 1/2 hour drive one way I didnt make it to MMA
but I made up for it by spending time with someone close to me and met another person who I hope will be the same =)
