I quit coffee for a few months in 2009. I just didn't want to be dependent on something the way I am on caffeine--on tour, I recon multiple coffee venues virtually the moment I arrive in a new town.
The experiment ended when I flew to Berlin; I realized that no stoic corner of my heart would force me to do a European tour sans coffee. Nearly the moment I landed I had a cup in my hand. And the buzz from that first cup was FABULOUS.
I just bought a $1,000 espresso machine. Yep, you read it right.

lil_tuffy:
I quit coffee cold turkey upon getting fired from a coffee house in Pittsburgh in like '93 or something. I drink less than 6 cups of coffee a year but it's pretty much only when I'm in Europe. It's very, very effective that way.

I suppose you are not so welcome at Starbucks which may limit your options in certain locations (not Europe).
