1. The Orphan Killer
After witnessing their mother being murdered, a brother and sister are sent to an orphanage where the brother commits violent attacks. The siblings get split up and after many years the brother seeks to find his sister and get revenge for everything that has happened and for the belief that she abandoned him
2. Hatchet
A modern slasher trilogy with a brilliant storyline and a comedic twist. This is the story of Victor Crowley, a disfigured individual tormented by the kids of the town and accidentally murdered by his father. The story follows a bunch of people on vacation for Mardi Gras who decide to go on a ghost tour when their boat gets stuck not far from Crowleys house and one by one they are brutally murdered. Both of the sequels are just as amazing as the first and are all a definite must watch!
3. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
I don't think there's anything I need to say about this film and its many sequels/prequels as its such a big franchise- if you haven't seen them, watch them!
4. Childs Play
Okay, so this is favourote horror series by far. You've all probably seen these movies, but for slashers it couldn't not be included. It's the story of serial killer Charles Lee Ray (aka Chucky) who when killed puts his spirit in to a doll. The first few movies follow the story of him teying to transfer his spirit in to Andys body and killing numerous people along the way. The last few movies (since they took a more comedic roll) follow the same basis but get a little bit more silly. The newest isn't the greatest but it's more back to its original roots after the abomination that was 'Seed Of Chucky'
5. Slumber Party Massacre
A high school slumber party turns bad when an escaped mental patient with a drill decides to crash the party
6. Nightmare On Elm Street: Dream Warriors
Okay, so this isn't most people's first choice from this series but it's the one I love the most! It's the same story of Freddie killing the kids in their sleep through their dreams but this one takes place in a hospital where the patients are in for sleep deprivation due to their dreams about the notorious killer. There are some really cool death scenes in this one, so if you're in to the first movie then make sure you check it out
7. Halloween
Again, we all know this one. Another fantastic series about the one and only Michael Myers. Fun fact: the mask Myers wears in this movie was actually a William Shatner James T. Kirk mask
8. Sleepaway Camp
When a girls parents die in a tragic accident, she is sent to live with her eccentric aunt. Later she is sent away to camp and soon after arrival a bunch of bizzare and violent accidents begin to happen
9. The Prowler
When a WW2 vet returns home he finds his love in the arms of another at a town dance and kills the both of them. Years later, the town holds the dance once again and unfortunately, the veteran returns too.
10. Silent Night Deadly Night
I've mentioned this one previously but it couldn't not be included in a slasher list. It's the story of a boy who witnesses the brutal murder of his family by a man dressed in a Santa costume. Years later and now an adult, he goes on a killing spree wearing a Santa costume himself
11. My Bloody Valentine
The orgiginal, not the tacky 3D remake. This is one of my favourites, a man seeks revenge on a town when a Valentine's Day dance is once again held. He murders the town people/dance goers one by one eventually going in to the mines
12. The Collection
Maybe not a true slasher but a brilliant film none the less. This is the sequel to equally great 'The Collector' and both are a must watch. A man collecting people for said 'collection' and killing others along the way
13. Friday the 13th
The infamous Jason Vorhees. This is quite a big series of movies and some of which are pretty damn great! A bunch of teens/young adults at camp who are killed off one by one
Sorry there aren't too many unheard of movies in this list but let's face it, with slashers, it's great to stick to some of the classics!
Note: there are more but I try to make these lists pretty short- if you'd like me to suggest any others (or any horrors of any genre) just drop me a message
