I've decided to pop these two Christmas homework assignments in together. The topics are 'What are your holiday traditions?' and 'Tell us about the best/worst gift you've ever received!'
I'm not a religious person and neither are most of my family. For us, Christmas is about togetherness. I've never spent a Christmas away from home, no matter how far from home I've lived. It's my sisters birthday on Christmas day too, so we always go to her home for dinner or evening drinks. I have a huge family so her house is always packed (6 siblings, 10 nieces/nephews) and we just drink, eat, watch TV and play games - the stereotypical family Christmas but with more alcohol and swearing haha.
In the run up to Christmas, are some of my other favourite traditions; movies and tree decorating. I'll admit, I get extremely stressed decorating the Christmas tree, but what I love is that every year the last thing to go on my tree isn't a star or an angel. It's a horse off a toy carousel that my Grandad gave me before he died when I was small. It goes at the very top of my tree and always will. And of course holiday movies are a must but I prefer holiday horror movies such as Black Christmas, Gremlins, Rare Exports, Silent Night Deadly Night... and of course Home Alone because no Christmas is complete without it!
As for gifts, I can't really remember the best gift I've ever had. I've been extremely lucky as my mom did everything she could to make sure I had amazing Christmas presents year after year and so I couldn't pick just one! The worst is quite easy, and they always come from my sister. She buys me some amazing presents too - and I'm super thankful but among them are items of clothing always covered with either skulls or guitars! She seems to think because I like metal music, have tattoos etc that I must be in to these things... although she's never seen me in anything like it :')
