I'm about to crack open a beer. A Spaten Optimator, nice beer, tasty beer. Well it is better than a boot to the head.
Well, just opened it and had my first sip. Mmmmmm, like a freshly baked loaf of fine bread. There are some things in life that are meant to be enjoyed. Good beer is near the top of my list. Beer, food, coffee, three things that shouldn't be skimped on.
Had a busy night at work. Hotel full of stupid little hockey brats and their parents and coaches. I really hate kid's menus. Not their existence, but that the food on them is nine items out of ten absolutely garbage. We talk about proper eating habits for our youth. Then we let them order off a menu of fried and processed foods? Abolish the kids menu and let them have smaller portions of real food. With things like vegetables! Sadly many kids are beyond hope, many parents aren't good at cooking or just raise them on out of the box meals. With that kind of food memory on the table so often it is no wonder children say they don't like vegetables. Meat, meat meat, sure kids love it, fried, in burger form and hot dog shape. Why not let them try a small piece of steak? Or a grilled chicken? Or a nice fish? All I ever see are burgers, fried chicken, hot dogs, and pepperoni. All crap. Crap in quality, crap in taste, crap in nutrition. We in restaurants have to ween these kids off the dog, it's killing them ever so slowly over a lifetime of poopoo eating.
I'm a chef, I eat all sorts of garbage. I'm an adult, my choice. Parents make the choice for kids, stop feeding them junk!

Ok, rant over...
My friend used to do that, feed her baby ice cream now & again. That girl is a sugar junkie now, really bad. She throws fits for junk food. She is 10 years old & is fat. Me & my other friend lived by the first year rule & our children are all thin.
My son makes his own choices for food. My son's favorite snacks include: cucumbers, carrots, sugar cookies, chips n sour cream, strawberries, life cereal, frosted mini wheats, apples, tuna sandwiches, plain spaghetti noodles & grapes, with a bit of Subway & Burgerville now & again.... that is most of his diet. I tell him to go easy on the chips n sour cream when he gets them out & he does. I know that puberty is a big time for fat cell production & if you can stay thin through puberty, you will be easier off in the long run later in life. That is what I tell him, just so he knows. He is smart. He is a thin as a rail. Hee hee.
I am really onto this because I was a semi-overweigh child off & on later like in mid & high school. Not terribly overweight & I was tall so, but still.
Over the last few years I have lost 60 pounds & still have 10-40 to go (depending on if my body stops loosing or not). I loose some, then I wait awhile & eat normally, then I will loose more, then wait again... I figure that way it is more likely to STAY off. Which has worked so far.
My weight gain was from meds (that I am off now), but it is still weight gain & I don't want my son to have these problems later in life. They suck. Trying to loose weight sucks. Too much monitoring of every little thing. Very annoying, but gets results... still annoying though.
The last 15 I lost when I got this stupid stomach disorder. Sucks being sick alot, but I am liking the weight loose ha ha ha.
Dang, that is alot of information. Ha ha. I guess I am bored.
