Another day, another update.
Today was a down day - no filming,a nd supposed to be no work at all (but when you are working production, you NEVER have a truly off day).
I had made vague plans to hang out with Penn & co. today, but nothing solid. i went into the production office early to check email and take care of our Fedex debacle. I ran down to the lobby for a minute, and ran into Penn & Goudeau. We made plans to meet in the lobby at noon. I raced through my work, grabbed my bag, and headed out to meet the boys.
the three of us started our day by going to the Turtle Farm, which is apparently one of the bigger attractions on the island. Penn had hopes that it would be turtles actually farming. It was a lot of large tanks with a lot of turtles. That's it, no frills, no shows, no rides. The simple pleasures. It was here that Penn realized that he had been to Cayman before, and that he had actually BEEN to that turtle farm almost 20 years earlier. we all posed for pictures holding the turtles.
After that we spent some time trying to figure out how to get back to town. we ran into a few other crew members, and we finally hailed the bus. Yep, there are no bus stops. You just stand by the side of the road, and wait til you see a bus, and flag it down. We rode around in the bus for about a half hour. It was quite peaceful, just seeing all these locals and stuff. We had the bus drop us in town, where we picked up 1.5 pounds of fudge (hey they gave us the last half pound for free!) and then had a leisurely lunch at a beachside restaurant.
After lunch, another taxi took us to the Butterfly Farm. And no, these butterflies didn't actually farm. It was lovely and peaceful. We then walked back to the hotel, where we separated for a bit and went to our rooms to relax and cool off for a bit. We reconvened an hour later at the jacuzzi, where we relaxed, ate fudge, and Penn fucked with the tourists who sauntered into the hot tub with us. we spent a good 2 hours in there before we decided to go to a little place called Chicken! Chicken! based solely on the name. We changed and met up in the lobby. Goudeau left us then because he had to go have dinner with Teller, and Teller wanted to go someplace else. So Penn and I walked to Chicken! Chicken! and got food and ate at the hotel. We ended up chatting for almost 3 hours, which was great. He has so many great stories, and I think that a lot of the crew members are not as open minded to strange topics as I am.
tomorrow we shoot in the morning then fly back to Bahamas in the evening. Blech.

Sounds like quite the interesting time you're having. I'm envious.
And turtles farming would be hilarious!
