Sigh... looks like I am back to being lax in my updates.
I did quit my job, and my producer made my last few days a living hell. Absolutely dreadful. She accused me of taking advantage of her, of not working, "forbade" me to take a lunch break... we yelled... it was not pretty. However, I found out that her new Associate Producer is not happy working with her either. After one week there, he is looking for a new job. And apparently, on at least 2 occassions, she broke down in tears because she couldn't handle the stress. That's karma for you!
Meanwhile, I am working over at the Style Network, which is part of E! Entertainment. That is pretty cool. The job is great, but it's not bad, so I should be able to stick it out until February. Apparently we get like a 5 week hiatus. THe people I work with are cool, and the work is ridiculously simple. I have a big TV in my tiny cubicle, so I am totally content. I have a ton of free time on my hands, but I can't play on SG because we are not allowed to bring in our own computers, and they monitor what we do. I can justify shopping as research for our fashion show, but how do I justify looking at naked girls? So this is why the updates are slow.
Wow, I have a bunch of news! I guess I better make this journal count since I am too lazy to boot up my own computer lately.
Went to KROQ's Inland Invasion. The Muse rocked, The Killers rocked, Franz Ferdinand, Tears for Fears, and Devo were all great. Siouxsie Sioux was beautiful and has such a great stage presence, but she kinda Yoko Ono'd her songs, and played a bunch of weird shit. It was good and all, but not what I was there for. X wasn't impressive. Ian Brown of Stone Roses was horrid. He was so fuckign drunk, he sang off pitch and could barely stand. Morrissey was supposed to headline and the mutherfucker got sick (last time I was supposed to go see him, on Pepsi Smash, he got sick). Supposedly he is goign to throw a free concert for ticketholders to make up for it, so that is pretty classy. The absolute HIGHLIGHT of the night was Billy Fucking Idol. He was so fucking good I can't stop swearing. I really want to see him live again. If you have the chance, go see him. He looks amazing! He has so much energy! He got the crowd so fucking pumped, it was amazing!! I have always really liked Billy Idol, but after seeing him live, he totally won me over - I love him now.
This year's show still wasn't as good as last year, but I think that is becuase the sound last year was much better.
Then, on Sunday, I went to the Emmys again. This is my 5th year. I love going, but I have to admit it is a little boring when I am not on assignment (usually I have loads of questions to ask celebrities, and it gives me something to do). We did get free tickets to the Governor's Ball, so that was special - those are $700 tickets each! We sat with a whole bunch of people who were on the Amazing Race,a dn they were all really fun - but halfway through the meal we realized we were at the wrong table! We ate quickly and left.
By the way, for $700, yoru dinner starts with a crab and tomato salad appetizer, followed by a standard meal of a small chunk of steak, some mashed potatoes, a few shrimp, and a creamy, whipped quiche-like thing with spinach in the middle. I stupidly asked for the veggie meal and got a plate full of vegetables I had never seen before, sitting on a bed of pinto beans and risotto, in a tasty, thick broth. Dessert was a large chocolatey thingy - it was really dense chocolate mousse, with a touch of cake ont he bottom,a nd some kind of chocolate raspberry mousse center. Table freebies were a sampler box of Ethel M chocolates with a magnetic picture frame. That is what $700 gets you.
Oh, and Insaniac bought me the new Pokemon and I couldn't be happier about that. I'm like a 5-year-old. I take that damn Gameboy with me EVERYWHERE!
Yeah that was long, but who knows when I will update again??
Oh yeah. Cause who knows when I will feel this verbose. I want to tell you about my wonderful evening at the Big Brother 5 wrap party! I had such a great time! As some of you may or may not know, I worked on casting and research for "the twist" - basically finding the brother and sister who didn't know that the other one existed and reuniting them on TV (originally we wanted a mother who gave her child up for adoption, but it didn't work out). Also picked the twins, Adria and Natalie, who rotated in and out (and Drw and Diane the other twins whose twins were not in the house).
Anyway, the food was great and there were a ton of people there I knew - there were probabloy about 400 people there (there were 225 employees for this season). The best part: Every year, the Executive Producers make a little speech thanking everyone for a great season. Keep in mind, there are 225 people who work ont he show. Towards the end of the speech, the execs said "We want to take a moment to make a very special thank you to a group of people who worked especially hard on this season. We want to thank the casting team that put together our amazing twist this year!" Then they proceeded to name all 5 of us individually! Out of 225 crew members, we were the only 5 to be called out by name! It's the little things that make me ecstatic (though I still get excited EVERY TIME I see my name go by on the credits!
I think I am typing so much because I forgot how much I love typing on my own keyboard... requires such a light touch...
Ok, I'm going now.
I swear. I'll shut up.
