So turkey day is done, and a new holiday lies on the horizon.
And I'm almost ready to get into the christmas spirit...well, as soon as I get past my rapidly approaching birthday I'll be in it. I'm tracking down my xmas cd's from the various stacks of music spread thoughout my apartment, and I'm dusting off my copies of "A Charlie Brown Christmas", and "A Christmas Story" for my annual tradition of watching them on xmas eve while I wrap presents.
And I've bought my first present...a barbie atm bank for the one woman in my life who I know loves me...my niece Tina.
Isn't she cute? I have to spoil her, she's too adorable not to...she even wrote up both her legs in black marker one day just to be like her uncle jimmy. (my sister almost killed me)
Yup every little kid deserves some toys under the tree...which is kinda why I'm writing.
So my department at work has adopted two families for the holiday season, and while I was surveying the list of ages and clothing sizes and such something occured to me...while the adult in me knows all the useful things I should be getting, the kid in me knows that every child should wake up to toys on xmas. So, I'll be squeezing as many extra dollars as I can out of my budget so a few other little kids won't think Santa forgot about them.
So all I'm asking is this: While you are running around trying to finish your holiday shopping this month, stop in the toy store and pick something up for charity...it doesn't have to be much, a stuffed animal or a football or an action figure or something...there are plenty of places to drop 'em off. Make a little kid smile on christmas morning.
