Farmers Market and living with Miffy:
So I woke up bright and early, 7am, on a Saturday morning to hop onto the J, wander down to the ferry building to go to the slightly snobby, but awesomely organic farmers market. I miss the dirty smells and live animals of other ones, but the setting at the ferry building more than makes up for it.
Talking to one of the local vendors, it seems that this weekend may be the last weekend to get pluots. I'm telling you, go buy some pluots at the market if you have time today/tomorrow (remember to go BEHIND the ferry building, it's not just out front!) and go get some. It tastes like someone has injected them all with sugar - they are truly awesome. Grapes are in season too, so if you like them - they have some really good ones - I'm eating them now and feel sick from fruit, but.. at least I'm eating... healthy? Fruit actually isn't THAT good for you, it's way too much sugar, but I'm sure the fiber helps.. ugh.
There were tamales, sausages, oysters, fish, cheese, amazing veggies like white beans and white eggplant and every kind of tasty looking tomato or pepper... or green anything. olive oils, jams and honey... really I could have died right there. I resisted all that because it will be there next week...
but this is the list of the spoils: flavor king/heart pluots, flavor ____ green pluots, golden grapes, fuji apples, bartlett pears, and..... raspberries.
Have you ever seen GOLD raspberries?!? those are amazing to look at, haven't had one yet, still working on pluots and grapes. but... they're pretty and organic and i'm sure it'll all look good in my tummy.
There is no end to the food fest that is my life, so if you're lucky enough to live with me (ahem, or below me) hurry and take your shower and eat some fruit.
