I did far far too much today.
Eric woke up and told the hamster "YOU SUCK!" which made me laugh, she does right now - she bit both of us. We'll leave her alone another couple days, but soon we'll make her love us. I have seeds, hamster, SEEDS.
Then I did some work, did computer stuff... bought a camera... oh yea, and chicken nuggets are 100yen, so Eric got some. He says he's getting a box every day because they're ridiculously cheap during this campaign. Fine. We went home, Eric worked more, I cleaned the house more, and then... i decided it was finally time to buy omiyage (gifts)
I called my parents the other day to tell my dad happy birthday, I asked my mom what she and the rest of the family wanted from Japan, she said nothing, I told her I was sending some presents to grandma and I'd send some to my sister to distribute in SoCal to some other relatives. I, again, asked my mom what she wanted - she said nothing.... "wait, monaka. I want monaka." I made her describe them to me (turns out they are rice crackers filled with red bean paste, we'll see how perishable they are on the way to CA) and I said "what do you want for your birthday?" "nothing" if I got my mother nothing, she would scream at me later, so I pressed her some more, and finally "a birthday present, something shiny and expensive from Japan, NICE gift." ok.
List of things I bought today:
1,100 yen for crackers
1,900 yen for monaka (3 boxes, 5,800 yen)
1,600 yen for cookies for Mike.
14,000 yen for mom's b-day present.
33,000 yen for camera.
25,000 yen for two shirts (for a friend, she's paying me back)
315 yen for bread for Eric.
1,200 yen for cookies for Eric.
295 yen for Wendy's for Eric.
200 yen for chicken nuggets for Eric.
315 yen for Mister Donut... 3 pon-de-ring for me.
1,400 yen for packing materials.
I came home, packed it all, Eric worked more, and now I'm waiting for confirmation emails about addresses from the family and tomorrow they are all sent off.
I'm going to make Eric eat. I bought him the bread/wendy's/muji juice as a snack... dinner is the yakitori and gyoza I bought... I get leftovers.
Things I want: skittles, oatmeal cookies, ruffles... sigh.
