UR is making a big push for its new apartment building or something in the JR Ikebukuro station. I'm not sure if it spans more than just this station, but as we left the east exit, everyone was carrying balloons for it.
I find this advertising very interesting - along with the usual people in coats with tissues or some other good with an ad on it to promote it, they also bought out a large number of the pillars, which are also available to be turned into ads and put the front and back of one person on either side with information about the apartments, there are also larger pillars with actual floor plan informations on them, some of which have big red stickers recently slapped on.... I guess the advertising works, because those particular floor plans are no longer available.
But this isn't the most interesting part, Eric and I were walking through and saw a floor plan on the ground of the station - there are lots of floor/sticker ont he ground ads for games and other items, but at first we though "hm, weird, a floor plan" but then after some studying, we realized it was actually TO SIZE. I stood over the toilet marked on the floorplan to embarrass him. A lot of people were actually milling about around it, talking to their significant others about the floor plan - possibly deciding whether or not to check it out.
It's a very interesting advertising scheme, maybe something that could only be worked out here in Japan - but I really like it.

in other news, Eric and I bought a valentine's hamster. Yes, I have a hamster, don't know what to name her - so give me suggestions. It said she's a "snow white dwarf" ok. no disney dwarf names, ok?
She doesn't like us right now, we took her away from her friends and the loud department store she was living in. She hasn't left her new bed cozy thing since she got to the apartment.... Eric says he hates animals because he can't stand poop, but he'll be happy to play with her when she's more friendly provided I do all the poop related things.
She's super cute.

I just saw this watch at SFMoMA that you would've freaked over. I think it was called a "Mystery Watch." No... something else... and damn if it isn't available at their online store. Hrrrmmm.
