I've had so much fun lately! I had kind of gotten old and set in my schedule, dropped out of the scene, etc. I accidentally mistyped something and ended up at this groupon web site for Chicago. I had no idea but it was a good deal. I then saw a let me know when it is in my city. I found it was going to be in mine soon and I signed up and waited. I thought it would be SPAM central or BS. I guess not. It is a mailing list with a daily super coupon only good that day (to buy, you then have a year or more to use it). The savings are really good, $50 restaurant gift certs for $15, and lots of discount salon services, like $100 spa treatment for $30, and then lots and lots of activity coupons. I have been doing a lot of rock climbing (because for $6 how can you refuse?), boat trips, eating out, and checking out comedy shows. I took my son and his friend and now my son thinks he wants to be a comedian. It would be a good fit actually. He is really funny, has a sharp wit and perfect comedic timing. He totally could do it.
I'm pretty happy I stumbled onto that. It has really gotten me out of my boring pattern. And seriously, I took out 4 people to a trendy Scottsdale restaurant and then to a comedy show for $39!!! I'm pretty proud.

I've been taking classes on European architectural history this semester. I'm really interested in going to Europe and seeing all of these amazing buildings I have been learning the history of up close and in person. The Gaudi Cathedral in Spain is one I am so interested in seeing. I think my department is taking a trip next summer. I hope I can go. Does anyone from Barcelona read my blog? Have you been there? Do you have photos? This building and the way he stress tested it with his upside down string model intrigues me.

Sagrada Familia is nice but always surrounded by cranes and tourists, hehe. I hope you can make it here!

There is a great documentary on Gaudi's architecture called, Antonio Gaudi. Criterion released it on DVD, rent or netflix it. It was directed by Hiroshi Teshigahra.
