I voted early and I voted for Obama. I was on the fence in some ways, both candidates are fairly moderate as far as their parties go, both have voted for and against many of the same bills. They are actually fairly similar when put side by side. There were a few things which really solidified my decision to vote Obama.
The big one is Sarah Palin. Holy moley by diddly what a raging cuntly wuntly by golly gee wilakers all mighty. Her mannerisms are insulting by their very nature as are her stereotypes of "Joe Sixpack" and whatever other "slices" she is trying to use to connect with the inhabitants of Americas trailer parks. She had to be the worst choice ever, I especially love how she just barely skirted around one of McCains own laws about the $150,000 she spent on clothes for herself and her family. Lipstick on a pig anyone? I would think the governor of Alaska would have at least a few suits on hand already and would have the resources to cloth herself. Her nasty little "quips" and the yokley way she says them out of the side of her mouth were incredibly irritating to me and made me want to punch her in the face. As a woman I hate to say this about another woman, but McCain really needs to put a muzzle and leash on that bitch.
The second thing I noticed was impressed by was the way Obama has managed his campaign. He has not run it out of money or let people around him run wild the way McCain has. Obama has been planning his run for president for years and has really followed through working with precision and determination with a goal in mind. I feel this is a quality of good leadership. He cut ties with his minister which was a good political idea, even though I'm sure it was personally an issue. Overall and so far he has managed his run effectively and well. I would like to hope to see this leadership continue in Washington. McCain seems to let his people go 6 different ways his right hand not knowing what the left hand is doing. That is poor management, especially when running for president seems like a clear enough goal to begin with, if he can't even keep his people on the same page for this, how can he manage a whole country with multiple and diverse goals?
Third and kind of tied to second, Obama seems to have more of a plan. I can go to his web site and I can read his plans for things, McCain can identify problems but he seems to fail at laying out any thought out plans to fix them.
So there you have it. The early voting is cool, I was able to read about every person and bill in depth online as I was voting for or against them.
Also.....
I have noticed Florida and Arizona have anti gay marriage constitutional amendments on the ballot again.
Can I just say HOW fucking annoying these bigoted laws are? Seriously! With all of the non-discrimination laws and the separation of church and state I can't fathom how laws "defining marriage as a man and a woman" bla bla are constitutional. Who and how people love doesn't seem like the kind of thing we should regulate. If marriage is a sacred church union then why do I have to pay $100 at the court house to get a license to wed and why do I have to pay $400 to the court just to file for an uncontested divorce? It kind of makes me embarrassed to live in states and times where this kind of discrimination is still allowed and where people actually vote for it. It was voted down in AZ last time I hope it gets voted down this time as well.
