So, another week has gone by here on the wonderful island of Okinawa. A beautiful place at times, it is getting a little old. The only people I know, are from either work, or friends from playing Dungeons & Dragons. Yes, I play D&D, if you have an issue with that, sounds like a personal problem.
Dungeons & Dragons. I hate to break it to some people, is not for the uber geek. Never was, it's just that somehow, anyone who plays has gotten marked as being a geek or a nerd, that lives in their mom's basement, and doesn't come out unless there is pizza or mountain dew to buy.
Admittedly, there are some people who play the game that are like that. I am definately not one of them. I am 26, a soldier in the US Army, and am going through a divorce (strictly a matter of us finding out that we really weren't meant to be together, one would think that we would have figured that out while we dated for almost three years, but...). I own two cars, love to go hiking, and camping. Yes I do play video games, and I read a lot! However, the reality is, that the majority of the people who play the game are not glasses wearing, cape sporting, pale skinned, nerds and geeks.
We are different.
When you come into a new group, no one ever has any problems. The people who I play Dungeons & Dragons with have become my friends. We support each other through hard times. We give each other strength, and listen to each other's problems.
We are more of a support group than anything else, and we are the better for it. So, with that I am going to announce that every saturday, I play Dungeons & Dragons. I will therefore, after returning from said event post a short blurb about the goings on.
You may wonder why in the world do I think that anyone would care? I don't think anyone cares; however, I am going to do it anyway. Have a nice day everyone.
