Finished watching Metropolis tonight. what an amazing film! And one of the first. finished reading children of dune as well herbert always has such great power of analysiis when it comes to looking at social philosophy but then when he goes and draws conclusions to action he falls flat on his face. no surprise i guess. i need to read foucoult (sp?) he has facinating ideas that are all applicable today and are in fact being used to today. he was one of the first to point out that drug use was a social rather than criminal problem and the shortfallls of treating such as a criminal behavior. I love the tower of babel myth in the film as well as the orignal interpretation. are our cities not tower's of babel? works of glory to ourselves rather than to god? HOW GREAT IS MAN! (and his creator) (oh yeah) foolish people. if only films like this were made today instead of complete crap like micheal moore and vin diseal carrying around babies in a yuppie kid-bag.
