Haha LOVE this blog topic, and what perfect timing. Okay so recently our family welcomed home 2 new fur babies Wrigley and Addison, my Cubby puppies. They're pitty puppies and the sweetest boys on earth, not a mean bone in either of them.
Yesterday while letting them out front--regular routine--they were doing their business when I heard a family approaching. Out of nowhere the smallest boy runs up with his hands open grabbing for the puppies to say hi. I didn't really mind cause a)kids love puppies and b) they're sweet boys. This spaz of a child stars running in circles and what's next? You guessed it. My puppies start chasing him. This makes the little boy scream and cry, which by this point his mother runs up to snatch him.
Rather than apologizing, or attempting to diffuse the situation she runs up and begins screaming in my face about dog laws, safety, her son blah blah blah. She clearly underestimated who she was yelling at🙃She screamed saying her son is "terrified of dogs" and what a bad owner I was to have 2 off leash. In a second my blood went from flowing to boiling. I gave it right back x100000 and reminded her it was HER child who ran up to my dogs, riled them up, then ran away. If he was so terrified why was he running up to say hello in the first place?? Also, if she wants to discuss "bad parenting" why the heck was she allowing her 4yr old son to walk 30yd ahead of her out of her reach and watch. I reminded her of the fact that she doesn't know me, or my dogs. I could be crazy. And to thank herself for not kicking my dog with her raised leg because the second any part of her body touched my animals it would've gotten physical😇
One thing is certain, she was NOT expecting my reaction. How can you run up on someone and go off on them when you're equally in the wrong? It was a clear cut example of privilege, assuming she was right, and I actually feel good about the whole thing. It's when I don't stand up for myself that anxiety sits and festers with what ifs, I would'ves and so on.....anywho. My babies are the sweetest and she'll probably think twice before yelling at a stranger without having any facts next time.
What about you, what grinds your gears? Ever had to stand up for yourself and put someone in their place??
Thanks for letting me share😘💖 @missy @rambo
