There once was a girl who loved a boy. True that boy did grow to a man and years later the girl agreed to marry him, though this story is not about the boy. Though it is because of him😏The boy's family is from Fort Collins, CO. Because both boy and girl were born/raised in Alaska they had no pro sports teams to claim as their own, therefor they latched on to Denver sports teams--a birth right of the boys family.
Ah yes, the girl....its me!! Haha and I LOVE football. Always have and for the last 8years I've been a diehard Denver Broncos fan.
4yrs ago I went to my first game, it was incredible to say the least. We played the Saints and the day before we hammered them 35-17 I ran into Drew Brees in downtown Denver!! He was excited to meet Alaskans and even let me keep my Denver hat on for our photo😅To top off the weekend we stopped by Englewood to see the Broncos headquarters and I got to see both our trophies and super bowl rings from '97+'98😍
3yrs ago again we flew to Denver for my second game. Broncos defeated the Red Skins and I watched our defense have a field day with RGIII😈We won!
2 ago that same boy took me to my 3rd game, and first divisional rival game. It was so intense!!! We narrowly defeated the Chargers and sent Phillip Rivers and company home crying👋🏾👋🏾This was it. Our team was playing lights out and I could feel in my heart a Super Bowl was near.
I flew to Super Bowl 48 in NJ and traveled into NYC to spend some time on Super Bowl boulevard with my love of this game😲
Alas, it was not our year. I flew home defeated and disappointed. My boys didn't just loose they got pummeled. This loss hurt, though I knew we would need to rebuild and return stronger than ever if we were to achieve another world championship.
Last year we weren't able to make it to Denver for a game....though nothing is strong enough to block this love affair and I found myself in St Louis watching the Rams beat the 49niners. The boy knew someone who plays for the Rams and we got on the field after to meet some players!!! Todd Gurly, Benny Cunningham, Robert Quinn and Nick Foles were all so nice. Even laughed at me for refusing to remove my Denver jersey...as I turned it inside out to be on the field😂
Surprise surprise, living in Chicago I realized my boys were coming to town and this fall I scored some last minute tickets to see them play at Soldier Field. Even with our backup quarterback we went 5-2 and that spark was back. We were unstoppable and I knew another super bowl trip was to come.
My boys wore white jerseys instead of typical away "orange" and it was rumored after our last loss the orange was a jinx. Instead I wore my gameday onsie and my brother his ugly Christmas sweater haha
I had orange on under my onsie though😏
In the end my boys came through with the win and defeated the Panthers to become super bowl 50 champions✨My love for the sport, and my team, runs deep and wide. I can definitely say this will be a year to remember in our relationship😍💙🏈
Thanks @missy @rambo @lyxzen for giving me creative expression on this weeks blog topic😂😂
