back from London and munich. it was fun & productive, but i have nothing really spectacular to report about it. just lots of the usual travel chaos, sights, sounds, work jockeying, drunkenness and girl-watching (so many gorgeous girls in germany). the friday before last, i introduced ralph to my work crew & we went out drinking in shoreditch. that was a lot of fun. ralph is a design guy and he's freelancing now and trying to come up with work contacts, so he and I thought it would be a good idea if he met everyone. I think everyone really liked him. i hope it gets him some business; it would be cool if ralph and i were on the same title again. i got way drunk as usual and talked a lot of crazy shit, so i hope I didn't offend anyone so badly that i'll be sacked.
i learned that since my last swing through London a couple of months ago, Sarah apparently dumped her boyfriend Richie. they'd been together for like five years. Not only that, but where does sarah choose to park her newly single self? that's right - Camden Town, my home away from home. not only that, but she moved into a flat that is right across the street from one of my old flats. pretty cool
I got an offer to do freelance work from another editor in London. I told him I couldn't do it unless I had my current boss' say-so because I'm very loyal. But I checked with Peter, and he seemed ok with it, so I'll get in touch with the other guy and see what can be worked out. If that works out, it will be the first time I'd ever be working on more than one title at a time, which I guess is what a real freelancer should be doing, if they have even a modicum of ambition, which I don't.
Anyway, the rest of the time in Munich was like a bunch of:
ok, get bags, go to hotel, get beer, get food, wha - why did I sleep on the floor? have meetings; oh you liked what I wrote for reasons you didn't understand? well, I guess that's good. oh, you didn't like what I wrote for reasons you don't understand? well, I'm sure I can smooth this over somehow. get taxi, get to thing, have meetings, does this person know I'm drunk? Dude, long time no see ...
That sort of thing. I had fun there - it was at least my third or fourth time - but if there is anything cool to do in munich, I have yet to find it. it seems like all beer halls and oompapa bands.
So I got back last night, and of course US Airways lost my fickin luggage, so that's what I'm waiting for now. I can't wait till it gets here. I haven't brushed my teeth in 30 hours.

Dude!!!!! Jesus.....later friday night, after a bumpy, winding ride home on the metro, these two weirdo, just outta college lawyer types stopped chuck and I. Apparently, they are considering moving to the area and wanted to talk....haha....we were about a minute and thirty seconds in to talking to them, right after coming out of the metro and I was like, "Um, exscuse me for a second...", run over to the Washington post news stand and threw up all over the door and handle. These two freaks saw the whole damn thing (I was less than 12 feet from them after excusing myself and letting loose!) The dude was like "Honey, just let it ALL out" flamboyantly enough to where when after the episode I made a weird, but funny joke about president Bush, and scratched my head when the dude was like, "hey! I like president Bush!"- Whaaaaaaa???? So, then we get home, and it's more of the "Poltergeist"-esque vomiting.......god, that was a rough night. My ribs and back hurt like shit, man! I am SOOOOOOOOOO glad you came out on friday! It was awesome to see you, but I wish you had been there with chuckie and I when we met those people- I know you would have seen the hilarity in it, too!
