This is a random blog I wrote on my bands myspace. Nothing ya'll haven't read already. But it's going up anyway. "Fuck You Jo-Bu! I do it myself."
Ummmm....Are those YOUR gummy bears?
So we took a month from playing shows to write new material. It didn't go very far due to the Hectorium being sick for a couple weeks. But....we do have ONE new song. I know what your thinking. One song in a month? "Good" musicians should be able to write atleast three or four. Well, my answer is very simple. It takes a long time when you're trying to create something new. We could very easily decide that we want to sound like Mogwai and write songs that sound exactly like them. But, for me (and I am speaking strictly for myself), I can't be a musician unless I strive to be an original artist. Except for my solo work, of course. Ha! There is nothing new in that. But thats why I don't take my solo work very seriously. In fact I think it sucks.
Aaaanyway.....The new song is a lovely one. Thanks to the genius creativity of Saul and our new bass player Brandon (not to mention the rest of the boys). It still makes me nervous to play 'cause I'm pushing my guitar abilities a little bit further. And there is a little riff I play by myself that could kill the entire effort should I fuck it up.
The month seemed like the longest in existence. Save the times I used to order G.I. Joes through the mail. Four weeks is an eternity for an eight year old! Ummm...yeah. So I'm incredibly happy to get back to practicing regularly and playing shows again. We will start recording our first "album" at my home "studio" very soon. Very very soon.
This may seem silly, but I am proud to say there will be no over producing on our recordings. No special bleeps and blops or fleeting fillers. Just six guys making their individual creativity come together as a whole. Sure. We could layer the fuck out of the songs, making our six piece sound like a ten piece. But then...how would that apply to a live setting? I would feel like I'm performing a lie.
