i know its just a guy in a big dorky rubber suit, but these movies are GEMS. ive seen them all now. im pretty sad actually that ive exhausted my supply.
the guy at my movie store is HORRIFIED and baffled by my enthusiasm. and not just for godzilla movies, but for the early double bill sci-fi movies where the plot seems valid, the scene is set for some real serious action, and youre feeling pretty convinced - until the metallic spray-painted cardboard 'space robot' appears. AWESOME. from the movie target earth, 1954, lead scientist on examining a captured robot, "so thats what makes them tick.....electronics!!!" BRILLIANT!
i love this stuff. how creepy is that scene in the creature from the black lagoon where the monster is swimming under the surface mirroring the buxom suited leading lady. shudder, greatness. and what about the brain that wouldnt die? what the hell kind of creepy mutant science experiment was locked in that closet anyway?
maybe its because MY brain has turned to mush and i cant communicate on an intelligent level anymore, but i sure get alot of pleasure out of this period of movie making.
anyway, just had to share the love.

There's definitely something to be said for that kind of cheese. If you like that kind of stuff, make absolutely sure you watch "Dark Star" if you haven't already. It has the best ending ever.
